Welcome

The artwork on the following pages includes art that is done digitally and traditionally. Some of the digital work is created by using a blank canvas and starts with a sketch. It is done much the same way that traditional work is created. Some of the digital work is done by cloning, utilizing Painter by Corel and Photoshop .. and some is a photographic manipulation using those same programs. Some of the work is a combination of traditional art and digital. In those instances, a work is created traditionally. Then, it is scanned into the computer and finished digitally. Other work is strictly traditional, utilizing either watercolor, watercolor pencils, inktense or other watercolor media and some of the work may be in oil.

I take traditional watercolor classes from Terry Armstrong  and .. I take continuing, online traditional watercolor classes from Jacqueline Gnott    Be sure to visit their web sites for a "Visual Treat"!
Also, a friend from Australia and I have a website .. where you can download desktop wallpaper, facebook covers and avatars, even some animated wallpaper, plus other items.  Marleschka and I have different styles and different likes so there should be something there that might appeal to all of you.  The site is PSP-Pals and you will find the Menu on the right side, where you can choose to browse all of the images that are in Wallpaper, Facebook Covers, etc.  In some of the categories, the selections are then broken into sub-categories, like Floral or Holiday.  Hope you find a wallpaper or perhaps a facebook cover that you like.

Just Some Paintings...by Charlie
This site is just a kind of "home" for some of the artwork that I've created.  Some of it is traditional and some of it is digital and some of it is more illustrative or leans toward being more graphic.     On these pages, you can view some of my art ...  I thank you for stopping by.  You can visit the "Blog" section of the web site to leave any remarks, regarding anything you choose but please remember that I monitor the blog and have approval before your words are published, and I will not publish anything hateful regarding anyone's religion, race or nationality.  Let's all be kind and try to do what our mothers taught us ... to play nicely with the other kids!  Thank you.

My Feelings About Traditional Art

I am so very very tired of hearing "less is more".  No, less is simply that ... less.  More is simply more .. and less will never be more .. more will never be less.  My love of art goes in all directions.  When attending a show, when I'm at a gallery, I'm drawn to loose, flowing, transparent watercolors...however, when I paint, my work is more "realistic".  Just because I love to view more impressionistic work does not mean that I want to paint in that style.  It's my personal choice.

My Feelings About Digital Art

How I feel regarding digital art ... well, it depends.  It depends on whether the art is done "from scratch", meaning that you start with a blank image or canvas and draw and paint your work on that blank canvas.  In my mind, that is a "digital painting".  Then, there is "cloning" or the use of a photograph in creating an image.  I'm fine with that, but please don't tell me that you "painted" that image.  The art program that you are utilizing is what has created that work.  Photo "manipulations" can be and are beautiful and I love to do them .. but no, they are not "original" art and no, I will never claim to have "painted" them.  You will hear me say that the work is cloned or is a photo manipulation.  I think the most important thing in art is "honesty and integrity" and I think that if you misrepresent how you created the work, you are lacking in honesty and integrity. But, those are just My Feelings About Digital Art.
